THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME...

EXTRACT:
Accompanied by his mother Rita and sister Claudine - who is also his personal assistant - the 34-year-old attended the bash at the city's Krystle nightclub.

And the trio showed just how close they are as they walked along arm in arm to the venue.

While the ladies in the family opted for stylish all-black outfits - Rita teaming hers with a patterned scarf and Claudine opting for a fur-trimmed jacket - Colin kept it casual in a check shirt, grey jeans and a black leather jacket.

However there was no sign of the actor's other sister Catherine, who is also in the film business - but works behind the camera in post-production.

Colin - who is currently single after his recent split from actress Alicja Bachleda, the mother of his one-year-old son Henry - has returned to cinema screens this week in epic drama The Way Back.

The film, which was released on Boxing Day, tells the true story of a group of soldiers who escaped from a Siberian gulag during World War II and escaped to India.

COLIN PROMISES NOT TO LET THE LADIES DOWN...

EXTRACT:

MOST women have fantasised about a date with Colin Farrell, but it's about to become a reality for these lucky ladies.

A handful of Herald readers and Debra Ireland fundraisers are getting dolled up to have an intimate dinner with the Hollywood superstar tonight.

The women won the chance to eat at a romantic restaurant with the actor by raising funds for the charity Debra Ireland, in association with the Herald.

And despite the freezing conditions, Colin (34) has pledged to make it home on time. The actor is battling the elements to keep the date and has even arranged to travel home on a ferry just to meet those affected by the skin condition epidermolysis bullosa (EB) -- known as the "butterfly children". The rare disease causes the skin, as delicate as a butterfly's wings, to break out in blisters at the slightest touch.

Two people affected by EB, two Debra Ireland mini-marathon runners, two fundraisers and two lucky Herald readers will all sit face to face with the Hollywood hunk at Shanahan's restaurant tonight.

Before that, Colin will meet with families of EB children.

I hope everyone has a lovely time :D

COLIN'S INTERVIEW WITH THE 'TELEGRAPH'

Can you believe it, I go away for a few days and miss a great interview Colin did with with the 'Telegraph'!  I really enjoyed reading this and felt Colin gave us quite an insight into his life past and present: apart from the 'off limits' regarding his romantic life... umm... the plot thickens?! ; - O

EXTRACTS FROM THE INTERVIEW

PERSONAL LIFE...
Although we are sitting side by side on a sofa, I struggle to hear him – he speaks rapidly but ever so quietly and his whole presence is muted, almost melancholic. He talks elliptically, lyrically.

Colin Farrell grew up with his siblings in Castleknock, an affluent suburb of Dublin. ‘My Dublin wasn’t the Dublin of sing-songs, traditional music, sense of history and place and community,’ he says. ‘It was kind of more nouveau riche, competition with the neighbours, a bit more privileged than the Dublin of lore.’

Farrell has decided that he’s ‘boring press’. Aside from a continuingly complicated romantic life, which I have been warned not to ask about, he has, in the past four or five years, abandoned drink and drugs, settled in Los Angeles and concentrated on being an attentive father to his two young boys.

AFTER 'ALEXANDER'...
‘I was going to walk away from acting. I couldn’t buy a packet of cigarettes without feeling I needed to apologise to the guy behind the counter in case they saw the f---ing thing!’ He felt beholden to the crew, the extras, his fellow actors and to Stone himself.

AFTER 'MIAMI VICE'...
As for Farrell: ‘I just completely fell to s--- on that one!’ He starts to laugh and looks knowingly at his sister, who joins in. ‘It was literally the first time I couldn’t say to anyone around me: “Have I been late for work, have I missed a day’s work, have I been hitting my marks?” Because the answer would have been yes, yes, and no.’
REHAB...
As soon as the film wrapped up Farrell checked himself into rehab. ‘For the first time ever,’ he says, ‘I lost the ability to be confident that I could make a change myself. I knew I was f---ed.’ So what brought him back? ‘A good old session in rehab.’ Another laugh. ‘A few tears and a couple of hugs with strangers.’

‘“Do you think it’s harder for celebrities to get sober than normal people?” And
I was just like, are you joking? I didn’t come out unemployed, hadn’t lost my family, my home, had all my teeth in my head. Could I have had it any easier?’

AFTER 'IN BRUGES'...
In the couple of years since it was released, In Bruges has won a cult following. It seemed to restore people’s faith in Farrell and perhaps his own faith in himself.

UP & COMING...
Last week, Farrell was reportedly offered the part originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in a remake of Total Recall. He’s yet to sign on the dotted line, but it sounds like it’s the right time for him to take it on: ‘I’d like to make big films and small films, mainly because I’m a massive fan of film. The idea of doing an Indiana Jones, or even an Inception – I love the grandiosity, how sweepingly entertaining films can be. And I think there’s a place for films that pry more into the human condition.’

THE FAME PART...
Does he mind when people pry into his life, that people are just as interested in him as a man as an actor? He raises his eyebrows: ‘I’m not going to lie, there are more interesting ways to spend your time than answering questions about yourself. But if there were no questions to ask me, I might have a beef with that.’

ANOTHER COLIN FARRELL EX - GIRLFRIEND ALICJA BACHLEDA IS ABOUT TO PUT PEN TO PAPER & REVEAL ALL!

Brace yourselves... here we go again... according the Polish gossip site TopStars, Alicja Bachleda, is to write her memoirs!?

QUOTE FROM ARTICLE:
"Given her turbulent life with the star, Colin Farrell, we can probably expect a juicy details"

Her 'turbulent' life?

Here's the official definition of the meaning of the word 'turbulent':
disruptive: characterized by unrest or disorder or insubordination; "effects of the struggle will be violent and disruptive"; "riotous times"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this description certianly doesn't sound like the Colin Farrell we know of today.

Interestingly, the article credit's Colin Farrell being the 'star'... I wonder why?  And "we can probably expect a juicy details".  Yes I think we probably can being as this is probably the only and entire reason for the writing of any such memoir in the first place!

I have to admit, if these memoir's ever do come to be published then I'm more than a little surprised by Ms Bachleda's decision to write such a book.  I was under the impression she wanted to be taken seriously as an actress?  Surely, this is not the way to go about achieving her ambition, and I suspect Hollywood will think long and hard before employing an actress who 'kissed and told' after her 'first and only' high profile relationship with one of their established actors.  And as for any potential and future Hollywood actors wishing to become involved with Alicja Bachleda... I'm guessing their agents will be strongly advising them otherwise!

I sincerely hope this really is just tabloid rumour because it's disheartening to think that Colin has once again managed to get himself tangled up with a woman who is going to use his name to further her own publicity.  But perhaps what's even more disturbing regarding Alicja's possible 'kiss and tell' is she has a child with this man.  A man whom may have abandoned his responsibility within their relationship, but has not abandoned his responsibility as a father to their child.  And in a world where so many men (famous or not) can and do... should this not at least count for something?  The phrase "Talk is Cheap" comes to mind!

COLIN FARRELL TO APPEAR ON ITV DAYBREAK 15 NOV 2010

On the 15 November, Colin is to appear on the UK morning programe Daybreak, in order to promote his latest film release "London Boulevard". The female presenter is Northern Ireland lass Christine Bleakley, who is currently dating footballer Frank Lampard.

I don't know whether Christine has met Colin before, but taking into account she seems to have met everyone else on the planet I'd say it's probable she knows Colin too!  Hopefully, co-presenter Adrian Chiles will manage to get the odd word in here and there...  should be an entertaining interview ; - )

BECOS I USED TO LOVE HER BUT IT'S ALL OVER NOW!

Imagine my shock upon discovering Colin and Alicja are no more?!  Man, this guy doesn't have a lot of luck when it's comes to women does he... I mean getting hold of em is no problem but keeping em seems to be proving a bit more of challenge!  Never mind Colin, plenty more fish in the sea if not mermaids ; - D

COLIN'S INTERVIEW ON THE "LATE LATE SHOW"

QUOTE:
Colin Farrell has revealed how happy he is as a father to two sons, including even when he is changing diapers. He has taken five months off so far to be with them in Los Angeles and does not expect to work again until June

The star was on Ireland's "Late Late Show" and spoke about his children in frank terms.

He said he has been home with his four month-old son Henry for the past few months and relishes diaper duty. He met Henry’s mother, Alicja Bachleda, during the filming of "Ondine," his latest movie set in Ireland, which premiered there this week.

“It’s an honor he told host Ryan Tubridy, about changing diapers “it's actually good crack (fun), he is so lovely.”

He said he found changing diapers "easy" but would not have liked to do it in “the days of towels and pins.”

He has also been spending more time with his other son James who is six with actress Kim Bordenave. James has Angelman Syndrome, which makes it very difficult for him to communicate.

He said he and his child "communicate with signs…" and also with “expression and energy.”

Sometimes he said it can be frustrating, as the time when his son had an ear infection and they didn’t know for weeks. "I said 'Sorry little man’" when he eventually found out, he said.

He revealed he and Bachleda did not become involved during filming but rather afterwards when some scenes were reshot. “We took a closer look at each other,” he said.

WHOOPS... SLOW DOWN SPEEDY!

Oh this story did make me laugh... seems not even Mr. Farrell is above the law!

Hollywood movie star Colin Farrell has been fined for a late-night speeding offence in Bath.

The Phonebooth and Miami Vice actor was caught by a speed camera driving at 45mph in a 30mph zone in his Range Rover in London Road.

The father of two was snapped at 1.49am on June 27 last year.

He failed to appear at Bath Magistrates Court yesterday to answer two charges, but instead sent in a handwritten letter of apology.

The 33-year-old, who holds an American driving licence, pleaded guilty to both the speeding offence and failing to provide information identifying the driver of the vehicle.

He said the car was registered to a film production company based at Ealing Studios in London.

His letter said: "I sincerely apologise for not having responded to the original notice of intended prosecution as the initial notice and further correspondence in regard to the speeding offence were delivered to Ealing Studios.

"I am, and have been, residing in the United States and therefore have not received or been aware of the information regarding this offence.

"The Range Rover was registered at the company address and therefore the correspondence was delivered there.

"I look forward to resolving this matter with the court's assistance and once again apologise for the lapse in correspondence due to the mishandling of address material by the production company at Ealing Studios."

Magistrates heard that Farrell did not have any other driving licence endorsements in the UK.

The Dublin-born actor was fined £60, ordered to pay £35 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge, and has been given three penalty points on his licence.

Farrell, whose latest film, the Oscar-nominated Crazy Heart, will reach UK cinemas next month, has been given 21 days to pay his fine.

The fixed speed camera on London Road was installed in 2005, although the road is notorious for its nose-to-tail traffic.
